Newbury Park Adventist Academy

Academics

Here at NPAA, students are taught to incorporate mind, body, soul and spirit. Each class is taught by passionate teachers that challenge students to think independently, open-mindedly, critically, and creatively. The focus of each class is to prepare students to lead and serve in a ever changing future.

Our faculty help students develop smart learning habits and college preparation skills that extend into all ares of life. We help students grow by challenging them to think critically, communicate effectively, express creativity, and develop a love of learning.

Athletics

We at Newbury Park Adventist Academy believe in a well-rounded education for our future leaders. The athletic department partners with the school to provide healthy outlets in sports and physical education as well as providing an opportunity to make the programs established at NPAA known to the community. Participation in extracurricular activities, especially athletics, provides a good opportunity to express positive school spirit and encourage students in their relationships to witness for Jesus Christ. Our students get to represent our school as Gators. Nothing is better than putting on a Gator jersey, walking onto the field or court with their teammates and playing hard together. Hope you will be a part of our team! GO GATORS!!!

WHATEVER YOU DO, WORK AT IT WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AS WORKING FOR THE LORD, AND NOT FOR MEN. Colossians 3:23

Robotics

Here at NPAA, we have an accomplished robotics team. Our team #18457, the GatorBytes, participates in the FIRST Tech Challenge LA Region League and the FIRST Tech Challenge Adventist Robotics League. In April 2023 our team competed in the FTC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.

At our 2021 ARL National Championship, our team brought home a Top-Ranked Award, a 1st place Inspire Award, a 1st place Control Award, and a 2nd place Think Award. We are so proud of our national champions and look forward to competing next season. Go Gators!

In the FIRST Tech Challenge, students utilize STEM to build and program a robot to complete a field-based challenge. Each year the challenge will change, and thus will the robot will be built for each challenge.  Teams are required to develop a strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as well as for community outreach, design, accomplishments.

Here is what FIRST has to say about this season:

“The nature of traditional sports is shifting. In any sport, we use our minds - our creativity, imagination, and critical thinking - as much as we use our muscles. Our robotics season challenge theme represents the potential in all of us to redefine the game and exceed our team and personal potentials through the only sport where every kid can go pro.”

MUSIC

Music allows us to express our creativity and grow our brain. Here at NPAA we have an array of options for students to develop their musical talent. We have four main musical groups at our school. Those are our Concert Band, Newburians (Select Choir), Concert Choir, and the Praise Band. The Band, Newburians, and Concert Choir travel on the yearly School Music Tours.

NPAA Music tour April 16-20, 2026

NPAA music students are FINALLY going to Hawaii this April 16-20, 2026. The school used to go every four years, but then Covid got in the way; and then there was a teacher turn-over.  We tried last year but the timing just wasn't right . . .

How you can help!

. . . NOW the timing is right. Music students have fundraised and made monthly payments towards the trip, but we need a bit more to fully cover the total cost of the trip to help keep it affordable for all.  Please donate however much you can to help us get the final dollars needed to fully fund this trip!

If you would like to make a donation, please select the “DONATE” button below and follow the instructions to “GIVE NOW.” Please select the donation destination as “OTHER” and write in “Music Tour.”

Thank you for your support!

Concert Band

Our Concert Band is one of the many NPAA music groups that students can participate in. The band is composed of three sections: woodwind, brass, and percussion. The woodwind section is composed of flutes, clarinets, oboes, saxophones, piccolos, bassoons, while the brass section contains trumpets, trombones, french horns, and tubas. Prospective band members will undergo an audition with the band director. Members of the band are expected participate in multiple concerts which include: the Benefit Concert, Christmas Concert, Spring Concert, Church Services, and all Music Tour concerts.

Newburians Select Choir

The select choir is for students who want to take their vocal skills to the next level. In Newburians, students will participate in learning songs from many different genres of the music world. Along with group songs, each section of Newburians (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) will work on their own songs to preform at concerts. Prospective Newburian members will undergo an audition with the choir director as well as be required to transfer from their elective to the choir class. Members of Newburians are expected participate in multiple events which include: the Benefit Concert, Christmas Concert, Spring Concert, Church Services, all Music Tour concerts, and vocal boot camp.

Strings Ensemble

For students that play a stringed instrument, we have our Strings Ensemble. Students who can play the following instruments are invited to tryout for the ensemble: Violin, Viola, Cello, or Double Bass. Prospective ensemble members will undergo an audition with the music director. Members of the ensemble are expected participate in multiple concerts which include: the Benefit Concert, Christmas Concert, Spring Concert, Church Services, and all Music Tour concerts.

Praise Band

Our Praise Band is for students that want to lead out in song service for Week of Prayer and church services. The Praise Band has spots open to all sorts of musical talent, including singers, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, violin, cello, keyboard, and piano. Students who are interested in joining the Praise Band, will undergo a audition for their prospective spot.

Music TOur

Each year the music department goes on tour. The Concert Band, Newburians Select Choir, and Strings Ensemble are the only musical groups that go on tour. Over four years, the tour takes place in four different places which can change. Every four years the music tour goes to Hawaii, as this is the only location that doesn’t change. While on tour each musical group participates in concerts at different locations. Along with the concerts, the group will go to different attractions to sight-see and have fun.

ASB

ASB, or our Associated Student Body is a group of NPAA students who are called to leadership. when working in ASB, the group works tirelessly to fundraise and host some of NPAA’s best events, such as our annual Banquet, ASB Handshake, Olympic Day, and so much more.
