COVID PANDEMIC: NPAA REMAINS IN SESSION 2021-2022

The staff were so overwhelmed with the closing of in-person classes at the end of the 3rd quarter, March 13, 2019, but with the two week turnaround that moved everything about school to everything about school online, school was back in session. Fortunately, thanks to our alumnus Travis Fowler (β€˜96) who had helped the administration set up an iPad for every student and staff program, NPAA was able to move to Google Classroom quickly. We were able to finish the school year academically, but oh how much we missed all the programs that make NPAA a great place to go to school. This included missing our Alumni Weekend, which should have been within two weeks of shut down.

Starting the school year in fall 2020, we were able to begin in-person classes. With a few hiccups along the way, we welcomed students into a hybrid classroom, some students attending on-campus while others remained at home, attending classes through Google Meet. Teachers and students continued to learn with the challenges that come with uncertainty about trips and programs hoped for, only to be cancelled.

Chapels, Weeks of Prayer, class parties, elections, and ASB activities were adapted to virtual programming. Innovation became the impetus to keeping school spirit alive. Pastor Fernando Rossi conducted interviews with different people every day, encouraging and entertaining every one. Classes adapted to online platforms with textbooks becoming eBooks. Hours spent online became a challenge as the year passed. By the end of the year, we were able to have a few of our programs, which thrilled students and staff alike.

School year 2021-22 has begun with great enthusiasm. Being located in Ventura County, where COVID numbers were lower, in-person classes were once again the norm of the day. Students are excited to be in session. Our enrollment is growing, with new families sending their students as they find out about our in-person classes. Even our international students have made their way back to campus. It’s a great year.
